According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the number of airline passengers is expected to rise by 5 % over the coming years.
As the oldest airport in Germany, Hamburg Airport had to prepare for this predicted increase in volume by expanding and modernising its central security checkpoint in Terminal 2.
Gunnebo installed two BoardSec automated boarding gates using Automated Board Card Control Systems.
BoardSec optimised the flow of passengers whilst providing a high level of security. Waiting times for the passengers were minimised and airport staff could be used more effectively elsewhere.
"This solution contributes to faster and more convenient management of the 19,000 passengers that pass through the airport to the departure gates. It's simply a complete success," says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport.
