BT’s Swansea office upgrades their existing turnstiles to Gunnebo’s full height SpeedStile FP1800 together with disabled access gates and glazed barrier work.
Gunnebo UK Ltd were selected to replace the client’s low level glazed turnstiles, which had been in location for over 10 years, as the appointed sales representative Louise Murray comments:
“These units were particularly old and were becoming unserviceable and beyond economical repair. As these needed to be replaced for reliability reasons, BT decided that a low level entrance solution was no longer secure enough and they wanted to opt for a more secure option. I went to the site survey and discussed this is detail and specified our full height SpeedStile FP1800 with accompanying disabled gates and infill barriers; which BT were pleased with.”
The installation of the new SpeedStiles was instantly deemed difficult, as Louise states:
“The area in which the equipment was to be installed had a steep gradient, which was a problem as all our equipment has to be installed onto a level finished floor.
Therefore it was decided that the best option was to remove the flooring in the area in which the equipment was to be positioned and increase the height of all our equipment, which would then be fixed directly onto the concrete slab below. We also incorporated a special raised plinth on all the SpeedStile cabinets and increased the heights on the disabled access gates and fixed barrier posts.”
Once the entrance control products were in place the Gunnebo team ensured they maintained a flawless installation as Paul Robson, the Project Manager, comments:
“To ensure a seamless finish we installed new timber plywood flooring sections to replace the flooring which was missing as a result of the installation.”
