Company intensifies its sustainability journey for climate, business and people
Gunnebo is committing to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, in line with global plans to limit temperature rises to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels.
The commitment is included in a new Gunnebo Group sustainability policy setting out key principles aiming to integrate sustainability into all parts of our business and throughout our supply chain.
“We are intensifying our sustainability journey at Gunnebo,” says Stefan Syrén, President & CEO. “The new Sustainability Policy is a big step forward, highlighting our ambitious agenda for sustainability”
The new policy is not limited to our climate impact, but also includes important commitments on how we run our business, develop our employees and work with communities, ensuring a sustainable supply chain and an engaged and diversified workplace.
The principles include, among others, active promotion of diversity, including a target to achieve 30% of the underrepresented gender in management teams. We are also introducing a third-party whistle-blower function to strengthen our Code of Conduct.
Implementation is based on 30 key performance indicators (KPIs) enabling us track progress in chosen focus areas using Worldfavor, a sustainability management and reporting platform. Key focus areas over the next three years will be customer privacy and data security, diversity and inclusion, and climate and energy.
“Some of the new targets are particularly ambitious”, says Kristina Wetterhorn, Group HSE & Sustainability Controller.
“Take steel,” she says. “We use a lot of steel, and we aim to start our journey towards reducing the GHG emissions from our use of steel, for example by investigating the possibility of using ‘green steel’ in Gunnebo products.”
