A Very International Company Was Just What I wanted
Alessandro Tiberio: ‘From day one I was directly involved in many projects’
Meet Allesandro, a graduate from Gunnebo’s new trainee programme
Alessandro Tiberio is one of the first graduates from Gunnebo’s Upskill trainee programme. He has now begun working full-time for Gunnebo as Metro Project Manager at our factory in Lavis, Italy.
How was your year as an Upskill trainee?
My first year at Gunnebo was very intense and challenging. From day one I was directly involved in many projects. At the beginning it was tough, but after some time I really started to appreciate the trust and responsibility I was given.
Covering the role of Project Manager in Gunnebo Entrance Control meant dealing with numerous mass transit projects based all around the globe. A very international company was exactly what I was looking for. Every day you have the opportunity to speak different languages and observe ways of working in different cultures.
I had a lot of trust from my colleagues. As a trainee this is the best I could have asked for, I was a trainee but I didn’t feel treated like one.
What is the most significant thing you learned?
What was special about the programme was the alternation between classes and work. The lessons with the ESCP business school and the possibility of applying its teachings in my everyday work was very stimulating. In particular, I enjoyed the “Executive Skills” class, which was very interactive and gave me many suggestions on how to improve communication at work. I learned to relate directly with customers and to manage resources for a specific project – these were the two fundamental aspects of the role I covered.
My project work involved a close focus on the mass transit market, analysing what the market is looking for, how customers manifest their needs, and what Gunnebo should do to achieve client satisfaction.

What are your ambitions at Gunnebo?
I really like working as a project manager, especially in this international environment. I want to keep growing professionally and personally, and I also aim to develop better skills in project management and business strategies. I am sure Gunnebo is the right place for me to achieve these goals!
