Sustainability Journey

Gunnebo (at that time named HIDEF Kapital AB) becomes a listed company on the Swedish Stock Exchange and embarks on the acquisition of around 40 security companies over the coming decade.

Gunnebo introduces its first Groupwide environment policy and earns its first ISO 14000 certification.

The Group forms a European Works Council (EWC) to improve dialogue between workers and management.

In Folksam’s Environment Index, Gunnebo measures above average among listed companies.

Gunnebo is recognised by Folksam’s Environment Index for tripling the use of video conferences as an alternative to international travel.

The Group brings most of its acquisitions under the Gunnebo brand as part of the “One Gunnebo” programme.

Gunnebo participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for the first time.

The Group participates in the Clean Shipping Project and uses the project’s criteria for the selection of shipping companies.

Gunnebo introduces environmental targets for the next four years covering energy consumption, use of raw materials, waste management and product development.

New environmental targets are set for 2014-2018 covering energy consumption, emissions, waste management and the supply chain.

Environmental figures are integrated into overall reporting process with quarterly follow-up.

Over 90% of the Group’s manufacturing units are now certified in accordance with ISO 9001 for quality and over 80% in accordance with ISO 14001 for environmental management systems.

A new sustainability approach is endorsed by the Group to achieve better drive and leadership in sustainability issues. 

The Group updated the Group Code of Conduct, developed a new e-learning platform, performed a new employee engagement survey. Gunnebo also organized sustainability days through out the organization to promote Gunnebo commitment. Gunnebo implemented a new H&S policy that focused on key areas where the Group has its highest hazards, and also developed a new assessment tool to track the changes and progress in the Group related to sustainability. 

Across Gunnebo Group, more and more initiatives and ideas around sustainability are being developed. To improve coordination and impact, the group have launched a new initiative in 2020 named “Assess & Act”. It is a tool for auditing our progress that will bring together best practices from across the Group, providing a framework and to-do-list for managers. 

Certification of all production plants for management systems for Quality, Environment and Safety was implemented. Also, Code of Conduct training for all employees in HR online training platform LEARN was completed.
